Annual Meeting is just around the corner, and it’s important to be in the know of what is going on in your union.
Earlier this month, the secretary of the STA Cathy Collins sent out an email with the proposed constitutional amendments that will be voted on at annual meeting. Here, those amendments will broken down, so you know exactly what you’re voting for!
Amendment #1: New Member Liaison
This is the adding of a new position within the STA. With the Janus decision coming, helping new members understand the importance of unions is more important than ever. This amendment allows someone to work as the “in-between” for new members and the exec board to help our new members navigate through education and inform them of the benefits of our union. Many other locals have already added this position.
Amendment #2-5: Dues
This Amendment is to give a timeline of when and how dues are paid. Just adding dates and ironing out details of reimbursement. One is for the executive board members, the other for our NCTA representative.
Amendment #6: Dues
Adding new language saying “one time only” to help iron out financial details.
Here’s the actual language that went out last week: Proposed Amendments 2018-4
